Wyoming Trip

Jacob and I took a trip to Wyoming to see Grandpa Larry and Great-Grandma Alice. The trip out was good. Jacob did very well for having to be in the car for so long. We couldn't get out and run around much because it was raining pretty much the entire trip. While we were there, Jacob caught some kind a bad stomach bug. He ended up with very bad diarrhea and a fever. He didn't want to eat and he slept alot. The ride home was a bit more interesting. Jacob slept a lot of the way, but not good sleep. He wanted to be cuddled, can you blame him. Anyway, we made it home and he got better after about a week. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Steele County Fair

Jeff raced in the Enduro race at the Steele County Fair, so we took the kids, Adelee and Jacob, on some rides. They really enjoyed them. Here are few pictures from the fair.

1st Haircut!!

Jacob got his first haircut August 29. He did very well sitting on my lap. He was more interested in all of the other ladies getting their hair done than what Emily was doing to his hair. He definitely looks different and very cute with his hair cut. Here are a few pictures of before, during and after the big hair cut!!

Going to the Fair

We took Jacob to the Cannon Fair on Friday. He had his first taste of fair food with some cheese curds, mini donuts and of course cotton candy. He also got to ride on a few rides. He really enjoyed the big slide. On Saturday we watched the Cannon Falls parade and then headed to Wanamingo to watch their parade. That was the beginning of a long day. It's a good thing he took a nap so he could stay up late for the fireworks! He seemed to enjoy them. Here are a few pictures from the fair.

Jacob rode on the pony for his first ride. He didn't want to hold onto the saddle so he just went hands free the entire ride, which was fine since I was walking with him the entire time.

We meet up with Venessa, Jason and Nolan. The boys went on a few rides together. Looks as though they are having a blast.

Jacob started walking a couple weeks ago. He is really getting around now. If he's walking along something he can hold onto it seems as though he's almost running. He's really moving now. We have to keep a close eye on him even more now. Here are a couple videos of him walking.

Last weekend we went to DesMoines for a bowling tournament so we had to take Jacob swimming in the hotel pool. We tried out first with his life jacket on, but it was riding up on him so we took it off. I think he was more comfortable with it off. He had a good time swimming with Mommy and Daddy. He was giggling away at times.

Easter

For Easter we went to Aunt Darlene's house in Rochester. We had an Easter Egg hunt and good food too. Jacob found lots of eggs. He got some change for his piggy bank and some candy for Mommy and Daddy.

Bowling for Ashleigh's Birthday

Jacob got to go bowling for the first time at Ashleigh's 30th birthday party. She had a party at the new Treasure Island bowling alley. It was quite fun. Ellen and Dawson were there too.

Last weekend, we went to Clements in Rochester to the Deer Creek Car Show. A bunch of the racers had their cars on display. Jacob was trying some out. He was having a good time as you can see from the pictures.

In the middle of March, Uncle Wes and Uncle Allen came to visit from Wyoming. They were here for a week. It was a lot of fun to have them here. Jacob played with them and had lots of fun. One night when they came over they brought Great-Grandma Doris along.

8 Months Old

Jacob turned 8 months old on Monday. His new thing now is to pull himself up on things and stand. He kind of tries to walk a little too. He is doing really well. He crawling all over the place and exploring. Getting into things that he shouldn't so we have to watch him very carefully. He really likes cords and plastic bags, two things he can't have of course. He's a good little eater. He's been eating cereal and fruit for breakfast at daycare and then he eats dinner at home. We've tried just about everything I think.

Ice Fishing

Just after New Years, we took Jacob to Lake of the Woods to go ice fishing. The fishing weren't biting much but it was fun anyway. Sharon stayed in the cabin in the mornings with Jacob and the we went and got them at lunchtime. The icehouse was nice and big, so we could bring the pack 'n play out for Jacob of be in. Jacob is sitting with Daddy fishing.

Jacob catching his first walleye. It's just his size. He liked to grab the tail of the fish. It was pretty funny. He wasn't scared of the fish at all. He was pretty curious.

Here is my eel pout. It's a really slimmy icky fish. We all caught one, but I got the biggest one. It was a 5 pounder.

My 1st Christmas

I brought Jacob to see Santa at the Apache Mall a couple weeks before Christmas. He didn't really know what to think as he has a blank look of his face. Christmas was great....Jacob got lots of good stuff.

7 months old

Jacob turned 7 months old yesterday. It's amazing the progression he has made in a month. He is crawling now and he loves to babble. He also loves to make high pitch noises. It's actually pretty funny. He is getting two more teeth in....his eye teeth on top have broken through but aren't quite all the way in yet. He is eating more baby food now. He started eating cereal and fruit at daycare for breakfast and then he eats a fruit and vegetable for dinner at night. He's starting to get the hang of it, but he likes to grab at the spoon. I think he wants to feed himself. I think we'll try to wait on that a while.

Above is Jacob's favorite position when he is on the floor. He just props himself up and hangs out watching whatever is going on.

He likes to crawl under his jumper and play with his toys.

Thanksgiving

We had a very good Thanksgiving. We had dinner at Grandma Sharon's house and it was great food. Grandma Priscilla came up for a visit. It was lots of fun. She and Greatgrandma Doris spent the day with us at Grandma Sharon's. We ate and chatted and played. We played so much that Jacob thought he'd miss something so he didn't take a very long nap. We did more visiting on Friday too.

Six months old

Jacob turned six-months old on Wednesday. He had his checkup on Thursday. He got his usual shots, plus he got the first dose of the flu shot. He did really good. He is getting his first two teeth. They started coming in last weekend. They are really pushing through. He is definitely a growing boy. Here are his six-month stats:

Weight: 21 lbs 7 ozs -- 95th percentile

Height: 28 inches -- 98th percentile

Head: 17 1/2 inches -- 90th percentile

Jacob is trying out his solids. We've tried rice cereal, peas, peaches, and applesauce. He's doing a good job with it. He likes the cereal thicker and the fruits are a bit sour to him. He makes the sour face when he eats.

On October 19th, the guard base had Halloween for all the kids. Jacob and I and Grandma Sharon went up for the event. It was a good time. There was a lot of kids there with a variety of costumes. Jacob is a bow hunter and Jackson (the son of one of the women Jeff works with) is a tiger.

Daddy got a deer the other weekend. Jacob got his first pictures with a deer. He's even all decked out in his camo outfit just like daddy. He doesn't know what to think about the deer.

Jacob is 4-months old already. I can't believe how the time has gone by. He is growing by leaps & bounds. He loves to babble and he has the cutest little giggle. He has started to roll over just this week. He can roll from back to tummy and tummy to back. It's so fun to watch all the new things he can do. He loves to stand up on our laps and jump. We got him a new jumper activity center a couple of weeks ago. He seems to really like it. Once he gets use to it, I think he will jump in it more. That's all for now.

1st Twins Game!!

We took Jacob to his first Twins game on Sunday. I think he enjoyed himself...he was really good. I think we may have been on TV, but no one saw the game to verify. The girls right behind us were on TV, so I don't know if we got in the shot. After the game, they allowed all the kids to go out on the field to run the bases. We took Jacob down too and I ran the bases with him. It was a good time.

We made a Circle Me Bert sign, but I don't know if we got circled!!

Visitors

We had visitors from Oregon this week. Aunt Sheila and cousin Danielle came to visit on their way to drop Danielle off at college in Minot. She will be a freshman this fall. Sheila and Danielle spent all day Monday with Jacob. He enjoyed the day, but in the pictures he's a little tired so he wasn't in the smiling mood. He had so much fun that he slept the entire night, didn't wake up until 5 am, which is when I normally get up. He hasn't done that again though. Hopefully we're getting there. Thanks for the visit guys!! :)

11 Weeks

Jacob had his 2-month check-up on Monday. He weighed in at 15 lbs 5 oz and is 25 1/2 inches long. He is growing like a champ. He is in the 95th and 97th percentile for weight and height respectively. He also got his first set of shots. He did very well with them. He just cried for a little bit and wasn't real fussy later or the next day. He is making more noises now and smiling lots and laughing a little. That's the update for now.

Going to Ellen's Shower

We went to a shower for my cousin Andy's baby Ellen today. Jacob enjoyed his time with Great-Grandma Doris. She held him and played with him for quite sometime. She made him smile and laugh, it was so cute.

The Fourth of July was a busy day. We went to Cannon Falls to watch the parade there and then we headed to Wanamingo to watch their parade. It was lots of fun. Jacob enjoyed most of it, except when one of the semi-trucks blew it's horn right in front of us. Jacob got scared and started to cry. Here is a good family picture before the parade, while Jacob was happy!!

It was such an exhausting day daddy had to take a nap with Jacob before the fireworks.

Here is Jacob taking a nap while Jeff and I went to throw horseshoes at the park. Grandma Sharon watched him and cousin Adelee. She sure had her hands full. When we left they were both crying. But when we got back, they were both sleeping. She handled the situation well!!

Jacob got baptized on June 8th. Jeremy and Ashleigh are his Godparents. It was a nice service, but Jacob wasn't very happy. He cried most of the time, but that's okay....he was just hungry. He looked adorable in his baptismal outfit that Grandma Sharon bought him.

Shower

A couple of weeks ago, Jacob and I went out to see Great-grandma Doris. She really loved the visit and was excited to see her newest great-grandson.

Grandpa Larry came from Wyoming to see Jacob over Memorial Day weekend. He was a little out of practice on holding a baby, but he did good. Jacob enjoyed the visit from his Grandpa.

Daddy went fishing last weekend, so he had to get Jacob out in the boat as well. We had to take a picture of Jacob's first time in the boat. Jeff can't wait until Jacob is old enough to take fishing.

3 Weeks

Jacob was 3 weeks old on Monday. I can't believe it has been 3 weeks already. Time is just flying by. He has some funny expressions that really make us laugh. It's so amazing the little things that put a smile on your face. He is changing everyday. He is doing well. He still likes to sleep alot, but is having more frequent awake periods. During these periods, he has his tummy time and play time with mommy and daddy.

Adalee Inez

Jacob has a new cousin, who was born on Sunday May 18th. Her name is Adalee Inez. She is quite a bit smaller than him. She weighed in at 7 lbs 4 oz and was 18 inches long. We went to see them the day she was born and we took some pictures for comparison.

Jacob Jeffrey

Jacob Jeffrey came into this world on May 12th, 2008. He weighed 8 lbs 13 oz and is 22 1/4 inches long with a 14" head. He is a bundle of joy. It's so much fun to watch all of his different expressions already. We were supposed to come home on Wednesday, but Jacob has a case of jaundice and had to stay in the hospital a couple of extra days for the blue light treatment. We went in to get it checked again this morning and he is doing fine.

Baby Stuff

A couple of weeks ago, we went out shopping to get the necessities for the baby. We bought a couple of dressers for the room, as well as the most important thing, a carseat/stroller combo. It was fun to look at all the stuff, but then you look at the prices and it doesn't seem as much fun then. We also bought a couple of homecoming outfits. One for a boy and one for a girl.

Here are the dressers we picked out. The one on the right will be a closet on the top since Jeff has his clothes in the closet of the bedroom and I'm taking up the closet in our bedroom. They are not very big.

Doesn't the stroller look comfy. I wish I could be pushed around in it, but I don't think I would fit.

Here are our picks for the homecoming outfits. Of course, if it's a boy we had to pick a baseball outfit. We picked a cute pink Pooh outfit for a girl.

35 Weeks

We are at 35 weeks. The weeks are just flying by. It's getting so exciting feeling the baby move around knowing that in just a few weeks he/she will be out in the world squirming around. Everything is going really well. Blood pressure is good and I don't have much swelling. I go to the doctor next week and then I will be going every week.

Albuquerque

Jeff & I traveled to Albuquerque, NM, February 20-25, for the Open National Bowling Tournament. This is a picture of us after we bowled the singles and doubles portion of the competition. We had a good time. Mostly we just bowled, but we did have a little time for other stuff.

We went to a couple of casinos to try our luck, but unfortunately we didn't have any. On Sunday we took the Sandia Peak tram up the mountain. That was pretty neat. It took about 15 minutes to get up the mountain. I think they had more snow up there than we have here in Minnesota. They said they had something like 46" of snow. On the other side of the mountain, there is a ski resort. We had a bunch of skiers on the ride up the mountain. It was pretty packed in the tram. Here are a few pictures from the top of Sandia Peak.

Chip & Renae's Housewarming Party

Friday night Chip and Renae had a housewarming party at their new house. They just finished building and got moved in before Christmas. We had lots of kids there and some more are on the way. The party was a great time....we had lots of good food and some fun visiting and games. We played a little Catch Phrase, which was hilarious as times.

Girl's Night

I went out for dinner with the girls Thursday night. Venessa and I had to take a belly shot. She is at 28 weeks and I am at 21 weeks. It's been nice to have someone to share stories with during this time. Not only can I share stories with Venessa, but also my sister-in-law Shannon, who is due about a week after mine. It is very exciting!!
